Huazhong Agricultural University(HZAU), founded in 1898, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of P. R. China. HZAU jointed the national “Project 211” construction in 2005 and the national "Double First-Class" project construction in 2017.The campus is located in Wuhan, Hubei province, covering an area of 4.95 million ㎡ (7425 acres), is surrounded on three sides by clear lakes and backed by green hills, making it an ideal place for teaching and research. With a long history of 121 years, HZAU has been coordinately developing multidisciplinary research programs, covering science, engineering, social science and humanities, leading in agriculture and featured by life science.
HZAU have integrated education system and 18 colleges. Master accredited fields include 27 of first level and 120 of second level. Doctorate-accredited field include 15 of first level and 75 of second level. There are 13 post-doctorate R&D bases, two national key laboratories and more than 100 professional laboratories. Fabulous achievements are made in the fields of hybrid canola seeds, green rice, high-quality pigs, animal vaccines, premium citrus, test-tube potatoes, etc. Nine disciplines, including Agricultural Science, Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, Environment and Ecology, Engineering and Pharmacology and Toxicology have been ranked among world top 1% of ESI.
HZAU has established exchange and cooperation relationships with over 160 institutions of 40 countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, Australian, South Korea, Britain and France. HZAU performed joint training programs of students, student exchange learning and short-term visits with a number of well-known foreign universities, such as China-foreign cooperative education project with Haber Adams University; the summer programs at the University of California- Davis, international internship programs, and exchange students programs such as University of Florida and University of Saskatchewan.
