Why go abroad?
Are there pupils/students in your class interested in going abroad, but still unsure? We give three reasons why they should not miss out on an experience abroad!
Tip 1: It is an unforgettable experience
Hundreds of thousands of young people have gone ahead of your students and when you read their stories, you get excited too, right? It isn't called an unforgettable experience for nothing.
Apart from all the beautiful places and fun parties that will be visited, they will develop their language skills, come into contact with other cultures and meet many new people.
Tip 2: More likely to get a good job
Besides being an incredibly fun experience, of course, studying abroad also proves to be a very smart move for students. A study conducted by the European Commission found that young people who spent a period studying abroad are more likely to get and keep a good job at a later stage.
Almost a quarter of students who obtained higher education degrees went abroad for their studies. Around 20,000 students even complete their studies abroad. The Dutch government encourages international exchange programmes and makes it financially attractive for students to study outside our national borders.
Tip 3: Financial support is available
Students eligible for student grants and loans can use these funds anywhere in the world. In the process, even special scholarships can be obtained for a foreign study programme.
So now is the time to go abroad for a study, internship, gap year or work. That will soon be different when they have a permanent job, mortgage and perhaps children. Draw your pupils'/students' attention to The Go-Abroad Fair on 29 & 30 November in the Jaarbeurs for inspiration and information about the wide range of possibilities.
The Go-Abroad Fair is the biggest event in the Netherlands for study, internship, gap year and (voluntary) work abroad
